From top left: Sandra Bullock (best actress), Demi Moore, Anna Kendrick, Cameron Diaz (in Oscar de la Renta), and Penelope Cruz.
I would say the overall look for the women at the oscars was feminine and full of pastels or light neutrals. Ruffles were everywhere, but done tastefully. The jewelry was not over done. I think the women nailed it this oscars. There weren’t too many that are on my worst dressed list.

Military has been going strong now for the past few seasons and has come in and out of style since the end of World War 1 with the creation of shortened trench coats after the war. This look is good in moderation. Don’t wear this look all of the time and don’t make it your entire look. This is good for only casual events.

Jimmy Choo 24:7 Collection Click this link to watch the video.
Here the founder of Jimmy Choo, Tamara Mellon, talks about the new 24:7 collection for Jimmy Choo. All of these shoes are essentials that every woman should have in her closet. These items are the classics that aren’t going out of style, so consider them investments. I always recommend spending a little extra on the items that aren’t going to change drastically from season to season because then you don’t have to spend your money buying the same items over and over. And what woman doesn’t want Jimmy Choo’s in her closet?!

Spring has sprung with a wedge. The hottest accessory for this Spring and Summer is the espadrille. These shoes are a great way to give yourself some extra hight while still be able to walk in them on the sand.
The roping detail of the wedge gives it a great Summer time look. The tie or buckle at the ankle give it the same sophistication as strappy stilettos, but with a casual twist with light, fun colors or cloth.
Espadrilles can be found in every price range. I own a pair of gray one’s from Old Navy and I’ve had them for 2 Summers now. They still look almost brand new. These are tough shoes. They go with every type of outfit too. From block parties, to a picnic in the park, to the beach they travel well.

From top left to right Jimmy Choo, Prada, Christian Louboutin, Valentino. All can be found at saks.com

The classic white shirt is a staple. It should be in everyone’s wardrobe. I mean everyone’s: kids, men, women, elderly, etc. It’s one of the few things in life that looks good on everyone regardless of age, skin tone, income level. I for one cannot get enough of them. I love cheap ones from Target to great quality ones from Thomas Pink. I’ll show you ways in how versatile this shirt can be.

Ralph Lauren white shirt
Wear it on a fall day with tall, dark riding boots and a biker jacker.

Church’s Michelle leather riding boots
Out on the town with bermudas and bangles.

Giorgio Armani
At the office with a pencil skirt

Boy by Band of Outsiders
Ruff it up with leather

Are you Classic? Casual Chic? Bohemian? Girly? Edgy? Here are some looks for you:

Look for sleek, simple lines. These aren’t the trendiest looks. They are looks that will always be in style. Same goes for colors. Classic looks don’t show a lot of skin. Classic always looks mature, but not old.

Think comfort, but not lazy. Sweats are not included or oversized hoodies. These looks are basics. Tanks, tees, jeans, but jazzed up with accessories. The key is accessories. They make the outfit.

Boho is all about fit and print. Flow is the key to fit. Oversized is best. Print is great and inspired from the 70s. Layers here is great.

Girly is fun, frilly, lace, pink, florals, etc. It’s reminiscent of your childhood, but in a mature way. They are cute.

Edgy is the ultimate rock star. Leather, chains, studs, zippers, and black. Ripped and vintage anything also looks great. It’s best suited for those that are younger, rock stars, or have the personality for it.

We have been having un-seasonably warm weather, so wearing jackets is still appropriate. Also with all of these holiday parties coming it’s nice to wear a jacket instead of a coat. It goes with your outfit better and don’t have to worry about taking it off (unless you get hot) or if you should wear it in. Of course I have to have a military jacket on my list. They were after all the hottest item this season. And in tune with Old Navy’s commercials I’ll even throw in a party cardy!

Holiday dinners with family can either be an elaborate affair or a simple get together with lots of food. Whatever your family’s style dictates your outfit of choice. I prefer more formal or dressed up. That means a dress or slacks, but eventually these clothes come of for more comfortable attire due to over-eating and contentment. There’s no need though to slum it. Here are some great sweaters for men and women to relax in.
